Fun picture

Found this as I was looking through some pictures from Christmastime. It’s a good one.

7-1 in spring league

The Diablas won their final two games of the spring league today.

Maisa pitched three scoreless innings and picked up the win in the second game.

I didn’t get any video of the games, but here is some video of Maisa working with her pitching coach before the games.

‘Let’s come off the line now at Sunset and Vine’

This song sounds as good today as it did in 1986 when I first listened to it.

I’ve never been much of a lead foot, but this song lets me live vicariously through the Los Angeles teenagers who drag-raced down the Sunset Strip in the 1960s. 🙂

First to third, second to home, and oh my!

At the conclusion of each softball weekend, Maisa’s coach asks each player what they were most proud of.

I was tickled that Maisa’s answer after yesterday’s finale was “base running.”

She had a strong weekend pitching, hitting and in the field — yet her biggest takeaway from the games was base running. 🙂

I tell Maisa at least once a month how much I miss running the bases when I was a kid playing baseball. And the Ankeny Kramers marvel at how Dodger players Chase Utley and Yasiel Puig tear up the base paths.

I’m pleased that Maisa enjoys and appreciates that aspect of the game as much as I do!

It’s been cold

But it was beautiful today.

Strong weekend for #2

Maisa pitched five innings over two games this weekend, allowing just one run. She was the winning pitcher in both games.

She is swinging the bat better, too. Her two best hits in 10U play happened in today’s second game. A couple of well-struck balls up the middle.

We lost the final game of the weekend, but Maisa had a nice catch in the outfield in that game.

A good weekend overall. Three wins and one loss. Our record is now 5-1.
