Prediction for 2017

Kershaw will win 15+ games and have an ERA under 2.20.

In other words, just a typical Kershaw season.

I wouldn’t trade him for any three players.

This one’s for you, Dad

Can’t help but think about my Dad up in heaven tonight. Lifelong Cubs fans born in 1932. He’s enjoying this game tonight.

Also thinking about my uncle Hub, of course, Iowa’s biggest Dodgers fan since 1955 and the inspiration behind my obsession.

We’ll have another good team next year, Hub. You can bet on it. 😀👍🏼⚾️

Pleasure or pain

Jerry West was one of the greatest basketball players of all time. He earned the nickname Mr. Clutch during his long career with the Los Angeles Lakers.

West later became the general manager of the Lakers. It was during those years that he was unable to watch the team play during the postseason because of extreme anxiety.

I can understand his pain. My emotional attachment to the Los Angeles Dodgers has reached a point where I can hardly watch them in the high-intensity games.

That’s right. I love the Dodgers so much that I can’t stand to see them fail in playoff games (or any big game). It crushes my soul.

I’m not talking about the current Dodger players.

I’m talking about the Dodgers’ tradition. The history. The uniforms. The stadium. The franchise. The vibe.

The Dodgers.

The Dodgers played their 200th postseason game last night

And for the first time, they recorded back-to-back shutouts.

An iconic moment

I absolutely love this photo of euphoric Kenley Jansen after the clincher.

Jansen is one of those guys who never, ever shows any emotion whatsoever. This moment of joy was a huge departure from his typical reaction to victory.

It will go down as one of the iconic images in Dodgers franchise history.
