A good off-day activity

The Dodgers were off Thursday, so Maisa and I watched “Field of Dreams.”
I’ve now seen the movie about 77 times. Maisa is about 73 behind me in that category.

Maisa just can’t figure out why I cry so much when we watch it.

You can learn a lot by listening to Vin Scully

The Dodgers outslugged Oakland last night to end a three-game losing streak.

Good little nugget shared by Vin Scully during the broadcast: The Dodgers are the only team in baseball without a four-game losing streak this year.

What a rush!

Maisa will never forget the day (today) she went down the big red slide at Valley View Water Park in West Des Moines. Very proud of her for having the courage to do it! 🙂

Death, taxes and …

Some things just never change — like the Farley Hawks getting assigned to the strong side of tournament brackets. That’s called respect.

All wet

The swimming pool has become a big part of the Ankeny Kramers’ summers. We go just about every week, and we have a blast.

Today it was Cascade Falls in Ankeny. Gramma came with us. The highlight of the day was Maisa racing me down the double slides. She won two out of three.

Go Cougars

I’ll be rooting heavily for the Cascade baseball team at the state tournament.

This might be the Cougars’ best team ever (and that’s saying a lot). They’re 37-3 and ranked No. 1 in Class 2-A.

More impressive: They destroyed baseball powerhouse Dyersville Beckman in the substate final.
