I know she won’t always like me this much

Sometimes I want to hit the pause button and prevent Maisa from getting any older.

The time we spend together talking and playing and being goofy brings me immense joy.

It’s sad to think that in 10 years or so, she probably won’t want anything to do with Mommy or Daddy. I’m trying to enjoy it while it lasts.

I’ve been thinking lately about how my Dad lived life down the middle.

He did everything in moderation — he ate in moderation, he laughed in moderation, etc. He never got too excited.

The only things Dad did to the extreme: hard work and baseball. He loved getting his hands dirty and getting things done.

And he could watch baseball all day long and twice on Sundays. 🙂

I forgot about this Tim McGraw song until I heard it on satellite radio Saturday. Great song.

Thankful for the good things in life

The past week has been a time of considerable sadness for our families.

I’ve spent the last day or two counting my blessings for what’s important in life — family, friends and health.

God has blessed us in each of those categories, and I’m thankful.

“BABYYYY, RUUUUUUUUNNNN!”

Maisa and I have been listening to this song a lot in the car lately. She loves it.

We both sing along with George when he goes, “BABYYYY, RUUUUUUUUNNNN!”

****

I have had the winter blues for the last few weeks. I really miss baseball and the nice weather that goes along with it.

Tommy Lasorda said it best: “When people ask me about spring training, I tell them I have a weight problem — I can’t wait for it to begin.”

Maisa and I recorded this little video last summer.

Chris Street

An unbelievably well-done piece by Rick Brown in today’s Des Moines Register. It’s the 20th anniversary of Chris Street’s tragic death.

Check it out at HawkCentral.com/ChrisStreet.
