The Hawks have done little to prove that theory wrong. I am very happy for the Cyclones these days, with a little better kick blocking, could be 7-1. Amazing! But I have to ask this question. Has a team ever been the recipient of eight turnovers and finished the game with fewer than ten points? Another theory I have is this. The number of victories for top flight college football programs, is in direct proportion to the number of retained coaches from year to year. Remember the fall of Hayden's Hawks, Alvarez' Badgers, Spurrier's Gators, Paterno's Lions and Stoops' Sooners...all after top tiered assistants went elsewhere. No surprise the Hawks are having a great year and a half. Look to the longevity of the assistant coaches. From the Master of "The Fine Print", even though I watch very few games on TV. As a Phillies fan since about 91/92 when I was 5 or 6, I've dealt with a lot (and I mean A LOT) of losing. It's tough knowing going in to the season that you're just going to end up in 2nd or 3rd place at best, but at the same time, it makes the rare seasons, like this and last, so much more special. Of course, I can't really compare it to you as a Dodgers fan, getting so close and having a great team but losing back to back years in the NLCS to the same team. I guess we just have the Dodgers number when it comes to the postseason...Anyway, try to keep your head up and keep watching the greatest game. Maybe a little break is what you need, but don't abandon it altogether. Good luck next year. Good post.
